Initial Performance Ideas

        As a beginner of performance, I even don't know what would be a successful performance. However, I try to combine with my background in Engineering and Art Design to make a initial performance. I came up with the following ideas based on what I have seen or what I have thought before. That means I got my inspiration from my former experience, but I will make them more initial now. In fact, what I will talk about below are just  frames of my ideas, I need to enrich them and make them better.

1. Super Mario
   
        Hey, man, I believe that all of you have played a video game named Super Mario.     Yeah, that's it.

        Have you ever imaged to become Mario to begin your exciting risk? I promise that would be a wanderful trip.
    
        In this performance, I try to use Augmented Reality to complete the combination of game's scene and personal performance. I know that it would be a complex and difficult work to use the Augmented Reality, but I believe that it is possible. I did Augmented Reality Based on Mobile before, so I will try to complete this in that way.
  
       First, the performer will wear a bib and a red hat which makes the performer looks more active. And then the performer should be familiar with the stage because there is no background on the stage. What the performer should do is based on the feeling, but the performer must act as Mario. For example, the performer should hit the mushroom as Mario.
  
       In fact, audience cannot understand what the performer is doing now because there is no background. So the following we should do is to combine with the game's scene.

       I think I can deal with the game with program language and leave the background of the game, but give up the Mario. After that, I can use a camera to capture the performance on the stage and transit it into the computer. Besides, I need to compose the performance and the game's scene.

       

        At last, I need a project  to show the composed scene. The best way to show is to project it on the side of the performer, and then audiences will see an original performance and a handled one.

       

       If this idea is too difficult to complete, there are some other ways to use Augmented Reality. For example, the performer can dance alone on the stage, and I will add more dancers in the background which makes the performance more interesting. In fact, what audiences will see is a visual feast of dancing. 

2. Coincidence

       There are a lot of coincidence in our daily lives. First, let's look at some pictures.

   

      Both pictures used the interlace of the space to complete a fantastic scene. Besides, once I saw a movie named Sophie's Revenge. There was a typical scene of interlace which showed two different women were doing different things, but the director used cross cut skill and made them together, and then the fantastic scene was produced. It seemed there were connections between them, in fact, nothing.

     I got these pictures from that movie.

 

 

      The left woman was showering and the right woman wanted to beat her. The action of shower seemed like the left woman was beaten by the right woman. In fact, the right woman didn't beat her. That is what I want to show in my performance, and I call it coincidence.

      According to my idea, I will divide the stage into two parts and each part has a individual scene. And then, two different performers show different performance in the two scene. The only thing I need to think about and I have to do is to make the two parts have connections. In this way, the two irrelevant scenes will produce a fantastic and relevant feeling to the audience. I believe this kind of performance will be more attractive.

3. Fighting with drawing

     I got inspiration of Fight with drawing from the following materials.

      I want to finish this performance with my hobby in drawing. Now I just have a basic thought. First, I will draw something such as monsters on the blackboard. And then, I will perform with the picture I drew. After the first act, I will erase them and draw a new scene and perform with it. I think it's more difficult than the picture above because I need to link all the pictures up and make them like a theater. Thus, I need fast speed and wonderful transition. However, I think the link of the video above provides me a good form of drawing and content, and I think the fighting is an easier form to perform. Thus, I name this performance Fighting with drawing.

     These are my original thoughts and I will revise and enrich them soon.
