Creative Mind Games


     Among the three acts, I can realize three different kinds of creative mind games in performance. The first act shows an interactive mind games which made up by a lady but transferred to the man who was the former target. However, the second act displays series behavior arts performed by Impro Everywhere Group. The third act states a different, disguised performance about kidnapping. Although they seem like three different forms of performance, I consider that they all belong to the interactive performance which is different from the traditional performance.

        I interest in the second act that a group did various kinds of behavior acts. At first glance, it looks like Charlie and his friends made fun of others. In fact, their purpose was to bring happy to people live in the boring daily life. I love this form of interactive performance not only because of the degree of comedy, but also because I thought about this kind of performance before. Just like most of their performance, they tried to guide their audiences into their own situation. Maybe some of their performances are successful, but others may be not. That they sold pants to the pantless people in the subway and they performed time loop in a Starbucks seems more voluntary to their audiences, while the fake birthday party and being the core fans of a band is not perfect. Most people were not ready to make themselves into Charlies’ world. I once came up with an idea that I would chat with my friends in a strange language, even not a language in the common sense, just speak with some unknown pronunciation in a café. The next, we would try to use the even unexisted language to order our meal. What would happen next could be imaged clearly, there must be a confusing communication between the clerk and us. However, I totally believed that we could finish the order at last.

        All these interactive performance showed by Charlie will produce funny effects which will lead the participants feel uncomfortable, such as the member of the band. In terms of the performance, on the one hand, it will encourage the band members and bring them the joy of victory. On the other hand, the fake atmosphere and the drop height from the real world sometimes give a heavy blow to them. Thus, it’s necessary to find a better way to complete this performance to relax people in their boring work.

      In the final analysis, the mind games produce an important and positive influence in the interactive performance. The participants need a clear and creative mind to plan their performance. Besides, they also need a sober and energetic mind to deal with the accidental situation in their performance.
